Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 8 onions
  • 4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil (olive oil)

Agrodolce Chipotle

Peel small white onions (flat-headed shallots, spring onions, grilled onions, shish kebab onions) and fry in olive oil until light brown all over. Add a little salt, deglaze with 3-4 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, add the honey, and a little water. Simmer over low heat until soft, adding more liquid as needed. There should still be some syrupy liquid left over. This is a must-have on any Italian appetizer platter and also makes a nice gift (in a nice glass) for a barbecue.
