Sweet Sour Sauce

The perfect sweet sour sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 250 g Sugar
  • 100 ml Pineapple juice
  • 300 ml Water
  • 5 tbsp Ketchup
  • 9 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 5 tbsp Rice wine
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce light
  • 1 tbsp Toasted sesame oil
  • 30 g Rice starch for binding
  • 5 tbsp Pineapple, drained and cut into small pieces
  1. Lightly caramelize the sugar in a saucepan and deglaze with water and juice. Simmer gently over medium heat until the caramel that has hardened has completely dissolved. Stir in ketchup, vinegar, rice wine, soy sauce and sesame oil, bring to the boil again and set with the starch mixed in water. Finally add the pineapple pieces. Serve warm.
