Syrian lentil bulgur dish

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g lentils
  • 200 g bulgur
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tsp cumin, ground
  • 1 tsp salt
  • olive oil
  • n. B. water

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Pour the lentils into a pot along with water, salt, and caraway seeds. The water should cover the lentils by a finger’s breadth. Cook the lentils with the lid on for about 20 minutes, until tender. Heat the olive oil in a new pot and sauté the onions until translucent. Add the bulgur wheat and fry briefly. Pour in the cooked lentils and fill with water until everything is covered. Cover and cook for about 20-30 minutes. Yogurt or mint yogurt is delicious with this dish.
