Szeged chicken goulash

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g chicken breast fillet(s) or chicken strips
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 jar sauerkraut, approx. 720 ml
  • 500 ml chicken broth
  • 2 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 2 tsp paprika powder, smoked
  • 1 tsp paprika powder, hot
  • salt and pepper
  • Caraway seeds
  • some sour cream for garnishing

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

quick, easy and delicious

Brown the chicken strips, season with salt and pepper, and set aside. Fry the onions in the same pan until translucent. Add the tomato paste and deglaze with chicken stock. Season everything with paprika and caraway. Now add the sauerkraut and simmer for 10 minutes, then season to taste. Add the meat and let it simmer. A dollop of sour cream goes perfectly with it. Serve with dumplings, potatoes, or a green salad.
