Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 100 g panko
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 large piece(s) of tempeh
  • e.g. rapeseed oil or another neutral oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Indonesian street food

Peel and finely chop or press the garlic, then mix with panko, salt, and pepper. Add enough water until it forms a paste that’s not too runny. Cut the tempeh into slices and press the mixture down firmly on all sides, not too thickly. Fry the tempeh slices in a pan with oil. I tried this delicious and addictive street food at the night market in Bali and absolutely had to try it. An Indonesian friend provided me with the recipe.
