Tomato-mozzarella-basil macaroni casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g macaroni
  • 400 ml tomato sauce, Italian
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 200 ml cream
  • 75 g diced ham
  • 125g mozzarella
  • 200 g Edam cheese, grated, for sprinkling
  • 4 tbsp fresh basil

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

easy and quick to prepare

Cook the macaroni in salted water until tender. Place the tomatoes in boiling water for about 1 minute, remove them, and peel them. Then roughly dice them. Finely slice the mozzarella. Mix the tomato sauce with the cream, tomatoes, ham, and basil, and bring to a boil briefly. Reserve some basil for garnish. Mix the pasta with the sauce and place some of it in a baking dish. Place a few mozzarella slices on top of the pasta, then more pasta, then more mozzarella, and so on, then pasta on top. Finally, sprinkle the Edam cheese over the pasta and place in a preheated oven at 200°C for 30 minutes. Serve on plates and sprinkle with some basil.
