Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 kg smoked pork, neck with bone
  • 1 kg swede(s), peeled and diced
  • 350 g potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 250 g carrot(s), peeled and diced
  • 150 g oat groats
  • salt and pepper
  • Marjoram, dried
  • 350 g flour
  • 100 g butter
  • some salt
  • Water, hot

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 50 minutes

with smoked pork and dumplings

Cook the meat in water with salt, pepper, and a little oatmeal for about 30 minutes, remove from the bone, and dice. Return the meat to the broth (add more water if necessary) and cook the diced turnips, potatoes, and carrots, along with the remaining oatmeal, for 20 minutes. Stir frequently, as the stew burns easily! Make a dumpling dough with flour, butter, salt, and a little hot water. Form small dumplings from the dough and let them simmer briefly in the stew.
