Vanilla orange pudding, fried

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 tbsp pudding powder (vanilla pudding)
  • 400 ml milk
  • Sugar, according to package instructions
  • 2 pieces of orange(s), untreated
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 20 minutes

Carefully grate the zest from the oranges. Prepare the vanilla pudding according to the package instructions (but with less milk). Stir in the orange zest. Pour the pudding into a shallow container and refrigerate. Once the pudding is thoroughly chilled, cut into strips and coat each strip in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs. Fry the pudding strips in hot butter with sugar and cinnamon and serve immediately. A cool apple compote is the perfect accompaniment.
