Vegan Parmesan not only goes wonderfully with pasta dishes of all kinds but can also be easily made at home with the right recipe. Use cashew nuts for the vegan substitute.
Vegan Parmesan: This is how you succeed in the recipe
If you avoid animal products of any kind, but would still like to use “Parmesan” on your pasta dish, there is a simple solution. Make the cashew cheese alternative yourself. You need the following ingredients for the recipe: 85 grams of unsalted cashews, 2 tablespoons yeast flakes, half a teaspoon of salt and a pinch of garlic powder.
- Place all ingredients in a blender or grinder and grind.
- Alternatively, use a hand blender. You can of course also crush the cashews by hand if you don’t have an electrical device at hand.
- Be careful not to mix the mixture for too long, otherwise, lumps may form. This is because the oil comes out of the nuts.
- Parmesan that you don’t eat immediately can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week.
- You can also mix other nuts such as macadamia nuts or almonds with the cashew parmesan. Please note, however, that cashews taste the most neutral and are therefore best suited for processing into vegan cheese substitutes.
