Ingredients for vegan nuggets
Basically, there are different ways to make vegan nuggets. For this recipe, tofu made from soybeans is used as a meat substitute. Make sure the tofu is firm and drains before cooking. To do this, wrap the tofu in kitchen paper and leave a pan on it for about 30 minutes. For vegan tofu nuggets you need:
- 1 packet of tofu (200 g)
- 40 ml plant-based milk
- 20 grams of flour
- 100 g cornflakes or soy flakes
- 1 pinch of pepper
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of onion or garlic powder
- 1 heaped tsp hot sauce (optional)
Preparation of vegan nuggets
If you would like a healthier and low-fat variant of the vegan nuggets, it is a good idea to prepare them in the oven. Of course, you can also fry the nuggets or fry them in a pan.
- Before preparing, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Mix the flour together with salt, pepper, and onion powder and place on a plate.
- Then mix the hot sauce with the plant-based milk and put it on a separate plate.
- Place the cornflakes on a third plate. You can either chop them up a little beforehand or leave them in whole pieces.
- Cut the tofu into about 9 to 12 equal pieces and bread them.
- For breading, first, roll the tofu in the flour mixture before dipping it in the milk with the sauce all over. Finally, toss the tofu in the corn flakes until completely coated.
- The breaded tofu pieces are now placed in an ungreased casserole dish.
- Bake the vegan tofu nuggets for 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. Turn the nuggets after 10 minutes of baking time.
- Finished! You can serve the vegan nuggets with ketchup, mayonnaise, or other dips.
