Vegan waffles with applesauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 125 g flour
  • 60 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 50 g margarine, vegan
  • 6 tbsp applesauce
  • 250 ml soy milk (soy drink)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

vegan, uncomplicated, quick and easy

To begin, preheat your waffle iron to medium heat and grease it with a little oil or vegan margarine if needed. Melt the vegan margarine in the microwave for about a minute. Combine the dry ingredients—flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt—in a bowl or large measuring cup. Add the melted margarine, soy milk, and applesauce. Whisk for about 1-2 minutes until you have a relatively thin batter. Make sure there are no lumps left in the batter. Now you can pour the batter into the waffle iron at low heat. If it’s too hot, the waffles will turn black on the outside too quickly and remain tough on the inside. You need a relatively large amount of batter per waffle, as they don’t rise much. The baking time depends entirely on the waffle iron. For me, they take about 3-5 minutes on speed 2 out of 5. If you like, you can top the waffle with powdered sugar, fruit, or vegan vanilla ice cream. They taste best warm.
