Warming Up The Pasta: This Is How The Pasta Still Tastes Good The Next Day

Noodles are one of the absolute favorite foods in Germany. But cooking the right amount of pasta is not easy. If you have leftover noodles, you can eat them the next day. What to consider when warming up.

You often cook more pasta than you can eat. When guests come to eat, it becomes even more difficult to estimate the right amount of pasta. But that’s not a big deal – after all, you can reheat noodles the next day. However, you should note a few points.

Warming up pasta: That’s what matters

The most important news first: you can eat pasta the next day without hesitation. Place them in the fridge overnight and take them out half an hour before cooking.

Some even swear by the pasta from the day before, because it keeps you full longer. The reason: part of the starch it contains changes its structure overnight in the fridge. The resulting indigestible starch, the so-called resistant starch, is good for the intestinal flora and is only broken down in the large intestine.

Pasta in the microwave?

The microwave is good for heating up pasta quickly. Put the pasta on a microwave-safe plate or in another container and cover it. Tip: Do not heat up a large mountain of pasta, but make sure to distribute the pasta evenly on the plate. In this way, the heat in the microwave is distributed as best as possible to the pasta.

Now set a medium temperature and a time of one to two minutes (depending on the portion size). Take out the noodles and check the temperature. If they are not warm enough, microwave again for about 30 seconds.

Reheat noodles in hot water

Some find pasta too dry when reheated in the microwave. If you feel the same way, try the following variant:

You can also put pasta in hot water again to warm it up. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the leftover pasta. It is best to use a sieve or a ladle so that you can quickly get the noodles out of the water. You should not heat the noodles for more than half a minute, otherwise they will become too soft. If that’s not enough to warm up the pasta, put it back in the water for about 20 seconds.

Incidentally, it’s quicker if you pour hot water from the kettle over the pasta and let it “infuse” for about half a minute.

Warm up the pasta in the pan

You can also heat noodles in a pan. If you only want to heat up pure pasta without sauce, put some oil in a pan and let it heat up. Add the pasta to the hot pan and heat for two to three minutes. Stir in between so that spaghetti, penne, or fusilli do not stick together.
