Western casserole with potatoes and baked beans

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g turkey breast, alternatively chicken or pork
  • 2 large onions
  • 3 bell peppers
  • 500 g potatoes, unpeeled and well washed
  • 1 can of baked beans in tomato or barbecue sauce, 450 ml
  • 1 can of corn
  • 1 bottle of steak sauce
  • 1 cup of crème fraîche or sour cream
  • 100 g grated cheese, more if needed
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 55 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Finely chop the onions, cut the meat into bite-sized pieces, and dice the bell peppers and potatoes (with their skins on) into bite-sized pieces. Brown the meat and onions in oil for about 10 minutes, then add the diced potatoes after 5 minutes. I always fry them until the potatoes start to brown. Then add the diced bell peppers, beans, corn, and steak sauce, and mix everything well. With a well-seasoned steak sauce, I don’t need any other seasonings, but you can adjust the seasoning to your own taste. Pour the mixture into a baking dish, dollop over the crème fraîche, and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 175 degrees Celsius (convection oven) for about 35 minutes, until the crust is nicely browned.
