Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g fig(s), dried
  • 375 ml tea, strong, cold, preferably black
  • 125 ml whiskey
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 lemon(s), organic
  • 1 orange(s), organic

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Place the figs, tea, whiskey, and cinnamon stick in a large saucepan. Bring slowly to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for 25-30 minutes, until the figs are soft and plump. Stir in the sugar. Peel the lemon and orange. Remove all of the white parts and finely slice with a sharp knife. Add the peels to the saucepan and simmer for another 5 minutes. Squeeze the lemon and orange and add the juice to the saucepan. Remove the cinnamon stick and pour the mixture into hot, sterilized jars. Seal immediately. Store in a cool, dark place. The storage life is then up to 12 months.
