Tipsy spiced oranges

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 6 oranges
  • 1 star anise
  • 6 carnations
  • 1 cinnamon stick(s), halved
  • 300 g brown sugar
  • 250 ml water
  • 4 tbsp grenadine
  • 250 ml orange liqueur

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Rest period approx. 14 days; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 14 days 45 minutes

Peel the oranges, removing the white inner pith. Place the orange segments and spices in a large, wide-mouthed jar, preferably with a twist-off cap. Stir together the sugar, water, and grenadine and bring to a boil until the sugar has completely dissolved. Just before the end, add the orange liqueur. Pour the mixture over the fruit in the jar, turn it upside down for 5 minutes, and then turn it upside down again (twist-off jars only). Let the oranges steep for 1-2 weeks. Afterward, the oranges can be served sliced ​​with the liquid for dessert. The sky’s the limit.
