White cabbage with egg Indonesian style

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g white cabbage
  • n. B. Egg(s), approx. 1 – 2
  • e.g. garam masala or cumin
  • e.g. chili flakes
  • e.g. salt or soy sauce

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Grate or finely chop the white cabbage and season with salt. Let it steep for about 1 hour if possible. Then add garam masala or cumin (amount to taste) and chili flakes as needed and mix everything well. Then add one or two eggs and mix again. Heat oil in a pan (or large pot) and add the seasoned white cabbage. Stir frequently and wait until some of the liquid has evaporated and the egg has set. This can take about 10 minutes and is a matter of taste. Just taste and add more seasoning (salt or soy sauce) to taste. Note: I got this recipe from a friend who worked in an Indonesian restaurant. I’ve also tried it with the “Café de Paris” spice mix, which also tastes very good.
