Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g spelt flour
  • 250 g spelt flour (wholemeal)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 200 ml soy milk (soy drink)
  • 100 ml water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Soy cream (Soy Cream Cuisine), mixed with water
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds, if desired

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 18 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 18 minutes

Combine the two types of flour, then mix in the salt and dry yeast thoroughly. Gently warm the soy milk and water (do not overheat, or the yeast will destroy) and add them to the flour mixture along with the oil. Knead thoroughly with your hands until you have a smooth dough. Cover and let rise until the dough has doubled in size. Then knead thoroughly again and divide into 8 equal pieces. Shape each lump of dough into a flat, round bun and brush with the soy cream and water mixture. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired. Place in a cold oven and set it at 200°C. Bake the buns for approx. 18 minutes (depending on the oven). The buns taste great with vegetarian or vegan patties (e.g., walnut patties) as burgers.
