- 1 kg yam(s)
- 1 tsp sugar or honey
- 1 tsp, heaped vegetable stock powder
- ½ tsp clove powder, a little more
- ½ tsp nutmeg, grated
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 pinch(s) cinnamon powder

Peel the yams, cut them into bite-sized pieces, and place them in a suitable pot. In a cup, combine all the dry ingredients with water, pour over the vegetables, and cook the yams with the lid on until tender. This takes about 15 minutes. Yams have a slightly sweet, very delicate flavor, which is particularly enhanced by this spice combination. This vegetable needs a neutral counterpart. Brown rice is best.
