Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 pack of yeast, fresh
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 50 g butter
  • ⅛ liter milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Original recipe from MAMA

Put the flour in a bowl and make a well in the center. Crumble the yeast into the well, then add the sugar. Pour the lukewarm milk over it. Then mix the yeast, sugar, milk, and a little flour from the edge into a paste. Cover the bowl with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes. Then add the salt and knead everything into a dough. Cover and let it rise for about 30 minutes. Now knead the dough again and form it into 6 dumplings. Place them on a floured surface, cover, and let it rise for another 10 minutes. You either need a large pot with enough room for all 6 dumplings, but two regular pots are better. Melt the butter, pour on the milk, and then place 3 dumplings in each pot in the butter and milk. Close the lid and cook the dumplings over low heat for 20-25 minutes. Do not open the lid! Place one giant dumpling on the plate while it is still hot. At home we served it with hot vanilla sauce and plums from a jar.
