Ingredients for 6 servings:
- ½ baguette(s), cut into 2.5 cm cubes
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 200 g Gouda, grated
- 6 slice(s) breakfast bacon, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 400 ml milk
- 2 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp mustard
- 200 ml sour cream
- 150 g Parmesan, freshly grated
- 6 eggs
- salt and pepper
- Cayenne pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Total time approx. 1 day 20 minutes
Place the bread cubes in a greased baking dish, drizzle with melted butter, and sprinkle with Gouda and bacon. Whisk the eggs with the milk, parsley, and mustard, and season with spices. Pour the mixture over the cheese mixture, cover with aluminum foil, and refrigerate for 24 hours. The next day, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F), bake with the aluminum foil for about 1 hour. Then remove the foil, pour over the sour cream, sprinkle with Parmesan, and bake for another 15 minutes, until lightly browned. Variations: Of course, you can use other cheeses to taste, and you can vary the herbs. You can also use sausage instead of bacon.
