8 Dishes You Shouldn’t Cook in a Multicooker: It Won’t Taste Good

Some products are not suitable for cooking in the multicooker because of the principle of this technique. Multicooker is a very useful and multifunctional piece of equipment. Its possibilities are very wide, but still not unlimited. For some dishes, it is not suitable at all, so it is better to cook them on the stove. Multicooker takes a long time to heat up and cook slowly, which is not suitable for foods with short cooking time.

Meringue

Crunchy egg dessert, unfortunately, you can not make it in the multicooker. It’s better to make it in the oven. You need dry air to make meringue, and the multicooker bowl is humid.

Popcorn

Popcorn turns out well in the microwave and skillet, but most models of multicooker won’t handle it. You need a minimum temperature of 200° for the corn kernels to burst, but most regular multicookers only heat to 170°.

Some vegetables

The wonder machine does a great job with vegetables that need to be stewed, such as potatoes or cabbage. Not suitable for multicooker vegetables that are cooked quickly and at high temperatures. Spinach, asparagus beans, leeks, and tomatoes in the multicooker are boiled into unappetizing mush.

Rice

Many models of kitchen helpers have a separate mode for rice, but it is still better to cook this cereal on the stove. Rice cooks no more than 20 minutes, but in the multicooker, it will simmer for about an hour. The temperature and high humidity in the bowl lead to the fact that the rice grains remain undercooked inside and sticky outside. In addition, rice very often “escapes” from this technique.

Seafood

Crab, lobster, shrimp, and squid are very delicate foods that cook quickly and over high heat, which is impossible in a multicooker. If you cook them longer than a few minutes, the seafood will become rubbery.

Pancakes

Even in a frying pan, pancakes can crumple or tear. And flipping them in a deep bowl of the multicooker is even more difficult. Also, because of the high humidity and low temperature, the pancakes will not have time to grab quickly and will turn into milk porridge.

Porridge with milk

Milk porridge very often “escapes” from the multicooker, which makes it necessary to wash all the equipment and the table. Take into account that porridge in the multicooker will take much longer to cook than on the stove, so you can’t make a quick breakfast.

Dishes with alcohol

Sauces and marinades using alcohol in the multicooker will not be successful. Alcohol will not get out of the sauce and will hopelessly spoil the dish, all the food will be saturated with alcoholic flavor.
