Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 3 ½ kg roast ham
  • salt and pepper
  • oil
  • Fresh herbs (e.g. rosemary, thyme and basil)
  • Garlic
  • chili powder
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 3 hours 30 minutes; Total time approx. 3 hours 40 minutes

ideal when guests come

It’s best to prepare a small bowl of spiced oil the day before. Pour oil into a bowl and add spices to taste. Add a sprig of rosemary, thyme, and basil to the oil and leave to stand overnight. Then remove the fresh herbs from the oil. Brush the ham roast with the spiced oil. Fill the roasting pan with water, then place the wire rack on top and the roast on the rack. Brush repeatedly with the spiced oil. Roast at 160°C (fan oven), depending on the size of the roast. The rule is: 1 kg of meat = 1 hour. I had a 4 kg roast and it was suuuuuper after 4 hours. Tip: Make the spiced oil with homemade chili oil.
