Barbecue sauce with cola and apple sauce

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil or
  • 200 ml cola
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 5 tbsp tomato paste
  • 100 ml vegetable stock
  • 3 tbsp applesauce
  • Salt
  • Pepper, black, freshly ground or cayenne pepper to taste

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Finely dice the onion and garlic and sauté in the heated oil until translucent. Deglaze with cola and simmer for about five minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and season to taste. You should notice a slight spiciness. Simmer the sauce over low heat for 5-10 minutes. Rinse twist-off jars with hot water and fill with the sauce, screw on the lids, and let cool. Pairs well with grilled food.
