BBQ sauce thick and sweet, just as it should be

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 ml ketchup
  • 1 gr. can/n pineapple, 850 ml
  • 4 tbsp smoked salt
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup soy sauce (Ketjap manis)
  • 1 tbsp sauce (Sambal Manis) if you don’t like it hot, use only half a spoon

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

… and so simple, great with ribs or pulled pork … fingerlicking good

Puree everything in a blender. Be careful with the smoked salt; there are different types, some are very salty, so start with a little more and then taste. Pour everything into a pot and simmer gently for about an hour. It will keep in sterile jars in the refrigerator for several weeks. Tip: You can also add ribs or pieces of meat to the sauce and put everything in the oven together – for example, 2 kg ribs at 140°C for 2 hours, or 110°C for 4 hours, or at 80°C for 6 hours (this is the tastiest version, as the meat practically falls off)…. and if you then put them on the grill and serve the sauce with it… delicious!
