BBQ sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 ml tomato ketchup
  • 100 ml apple or orange juice
  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove(s), finely chopped
  • 2 tsp, heaped sugar, brown or coconut blossom sugar
  • 100 ml honey
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Finely chop the onion and garlic, fry in oil until translucent, then sprinkle with sugar and let it caramelize. Now add the remaining ingredients and simmer on low heat for at least 30 minutes. Tips: If you don’t like it too spicy, don’t add the pepper and cayenne pepper to the sauce; instead, add them to the sauce at the end to season it. We’ve omitted the honey these days because we’ve grown weary of the sweetness. I like to replace the apple juice with orange juice; it tastes very interesting.
