Garlic steaks

Peel the potatoes and cut into slices about 1/2 cm thick. Peel and slice the onions. Grease a baking dish and layer the potatoes and onions in it, seasoning with salt and pepper. Add enough stock to just cover the potatoes. Cook in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 40 minutes. In the meantime, put the sour cream or crème fraîche in a bowl and press in the garlic cloves, season with salt and pepper, and set aside. 15 minutes before the end of the cooking time, fry the steaks on both sides until crispy and keep warm. After 40 minutes, remove the potatoes from the oven and place the steaks on top. Baste with the garlic crème fraîche and bake in the oven for another 15 minutes.
