Delicious creamy onion soup in the style of a housewife

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 10 m.-sized onion(s), cut into thin rings
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 300 ml milk, cold
  • 500 ml vegetable stock
  • 2 tbsp chives
  • Salt and pepper from the mill
  • 200 g carrot(s) – slices (frozen)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Melt the butter in a large saucepan and sauté the onions until golden brown. Then sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir everything well again. After about 2 minutes, deglaze the onions with the cold milk. Let it simmer briefly. Now add the vegetable stock, carrots, and chives, and season with salt and pepper. Let everything simmer on low heat for 20 minutes, then serve. It also tastes delicious sprinkled with cheese over the freshly filled plate. This recipe is great if you have too many onions at home that need to be used up quickly!
