Sweet yeast dough – received from a baker

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 100 g sugar
  • 50 g butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pack of yeast, fresh or dry
  • ¼ liter of lukewarm water or milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 4 hours

for sweet rolls, braided bread, etc.

Put the flour in a bowl. Make a well in it, then add the yeast, sugar, and a little lukewarm liquid. Cover with flour and let it rise in a warm place for about 15 minutes, covered. Then knead thoroughly. Add the remaining ingredients, knead vigorously, and let it rest for another 30 minutes. After that, you can use the dough as needed. Use for flambéed pastries (enough for 2 bases), tireliskes, sweet rolls, Weckmann (pretzel men), braided bread, etc. Brush the dough pieces with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 200-220°C (top/bottom heat) for about 20-30 minutes (pay attention to the desired degree of browning!). If you’d rather not add egg, you can also cover the baked goods with icing or warmed apricot jam after baking. My friends have always loved them.
