Micken the great-grandmother's way

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 30 g yeast, crumbled
  • 250 ml milk
  • 65 g sugar
  • 65 g butter
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • some fat, for the mold
  • 30 g butter, for spreading

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Put the flour in a baking bowl and make a well in the middle. Add the crumbled yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar, pour over a little lukewarm milk and mix with a little flour to form a runny pre-dough. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes. Mix the pre-dough with the remaining dough ingredients to form a smooth yeast dough. Beat the dough vigorously with a wooden spoon or knead it with a dough hook until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes. Then break off long pieces of dough and shape them, placing them close together on a greased baking sheet or in a loaf pan. Let rise for another 30 minutes. Then bake in a hot oven at 120-210 degrees Celsius for about 25-30 minutes. Brush with melted butter just before it is ready.
