Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g bread(s), stale
  • 300 ml milk, hot
  • 2 eggs
  • 25 g Parmesan, grated
  • herbal salt
  • 125 g fish fillet(s), e.g. trout fillets, smoked
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 200 g cheese, grated
  • Herb butter (wild garlic butter)
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Dice the bread and pour over the hot milk. After about 15 minutes, mix in the Parmesan cheese and eggs and season with herb salt. Pour half of the mixture into the greased baking dish, layer the sliced ​​tomatoes and chopped fish fillets in the dish, and spread the other half of the bread mixture on top. Sprinkle with a few flakes of wild garlic butter and the grated cheese. Bake in the oven at 180°C (fan oven) for about 35 minutes until golden brown. This recipe is perfect for using up leftover stale bread. The fish can easily be replaced with ham or other leftovers from the fridge.
