Buttermilk bread

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 500 ml buttermilk
  • possibly fried onions or cheese or herbs or seeds
  • n. B. Water, warm

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Dissolve the yeast with salt and sugar (and a little warm water if desired) in a cup. Put the flour in a bowl. Make a well in the center. Add the dissolved yeast and the room-temperature buttermilk. Add fried onions, cheese, herbs, or seeds as desired. Use the dough hook of a hand mixer to knead into a smooth dough. Pour the dough into a bread pan or a Tupperware Ultra and let it rise in the oven at 50°C for about 10 minutes. Then bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes. Remove from the pan and bake for another 30 minutes without the pan at the same temperature.
