Waffles with yeast and baking soda

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 350 g flour
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 600 ml milk
  • 120 g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp, heaped orange sugar, homemade

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

First, whisk together all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, orange sugar, salt, baking soda, and dry yeast) in a large bowl. Place the milk and butter in a container and heat in the microwave at 600W for about four minutes to 45°C. Stir the two eggs one at a time into the milk and then add everything to the dry ingredients, mixing with a hand mixer until no lumps remain. Cover the batter with a towel and let it rise for one hour. Preheat the waffle iron, lightly brush with butter, stir the batter briefly with a whisk, then spread a ladleful onto the waffle iron and bake. Place the finished waffles on a plate.
