Baked rice pudding

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 tbsp butter, for greasing
  • 5 tbsp sugar, finest
  • 100 g rice (short grain rice)
  • ½ liter of milk, approx.
  • 5 drops flavoring (vanilla)
  • 1 tsp lemon zest, finely grated
  • 1 pinch(s) nutmeg, freshly grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Rice pudding with a twist…

Preheat the oven to 160°C. Grease a 850 ml casserole dish with butter. Mix the sugar, rice, milk, and vanilla essence and pour into the dish. Sprinkle evenly with lemon zest and nutmeg and bake in the oven for 2 1/2 hours. Divide the finished rice pudding among dessert plates and serve warm with vanilla sauce, fruit, or ice cream, as desired.
