Gyros casserole with potatoes

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • some margarine
  • 1 large garlic clove(s)
  • 8 m.-sized potatoes
  • 400 g gyros meat
  • 1 small bell pepper(s), red
  • 2 cl brandy
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 100 g cheese, grated
  • some salt
  • some paprika powder, hot

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

for a casserole dish

Rub a baking dish with garlic and grease generously. Peel the potatoes and cut into fairly small cubes. Add them to the baking dish and season with salt and paprika. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 30 minutes. Clean and dice the peppers, and fry them in a pan with the gyro meat for 3-5 minutes. Deglaze with the brandy. Stir in the sour cream, adding a little more than directed if you like. Mix the contents of the pan with the potatoes in the baking dish, sprinkle with the grated cheese, and bake for another 15 minutes at 150°C (top/bottom heat). Serve with a salad.
