Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

quick, tasty side dish to mashed potatoes

First, dice the onion and sauté it in the margarine. Add the sauerkraut, tearing it into small pieces and sautéing briefly. Fill the sauerkraut container 3/4 full with water and add it to the cabbage. Lightly crush the juniper berries and add it to the pot with the Mettwurst (or ham sausage). Cook for about 25 minutes. Then halve the Mettwurst lengthwise, cut into pieces, and mix with the sauerkraut. Finally, dissolve the cornstarch in a little cold water, add it to the boiling sauerkraut, and bring back to a boil briefly. Serve with mashed potatoes and, perhaps, onion rings fried in butter.
