- 500 ml milk
- some salt
- some nutmeg, freshly grated
- 1 cauliflower
- 5 slices of bacon
- some oil
- some breadcrumbs
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes
Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water as usual. Divide the cauliflower into larger florets and cook in another pot until al dente. Mash the potatoes, adding a little butter if you like. Season with nutmeg and salt. Gradually add the milk and mash using a hand mixer. Meanwhile, cut the bacon into small, thin strips and fry in a pan with a little oil until crispy. Place the cauliflower in a large baking dish and season with nutmeg. Pour the mash over the potatoes. Then spread the fried bacon strips over the mash. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and pour the cooking fat over them. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (top/bottom heat) on the middle rack for about 20 minutes, until the breadcrumbs are slightly browned.
