Grandma's Corned Beef Sauce

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 gherkin(s)
  • 1 can of corned beef (can size as needed)
  • Fat for frying
  • Tomato paste
  • ¼ liter of water
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Dice the onion and cucumber. Shred the corned beef. Heat the fat in a small pot or casserole dish and brown the corned beef. Add the onions, sauté briefly, and then deglaze with water. Stir, add the diced cucumber, and season with tomato paste, if desired. Simmer everything on low heat, stirring regularly. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and paprika, if desired. Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, potatoes, or rice. Leftovers can be safely frozen or refrigerated for the next day.
