Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 200 g meat sausage
  • 400 g onion(s)
  • Salt
  • Pepper from the mill
  • 1 pinch(s) of caraway powder
  • 1 pinch(s) of cayenne pepper
  • 1 bunch of chives
  • 100 g cheese (Emmental), grated
  • 8 slice(s) bread(s) (farmer’s bread)
  • Herbs (twigs), for garnishing

Instructions

Heat the butter in a pan and sauté the sausage, cut into thin strips or cubes, until translucent. Add the peeled and sliced ​​onions and sauté briefly. Season generously with salt, pepper, caraway, and cayenne pepper. Remove from the heat and stir in the sorted, washed, and finely chopped chives. Stir in the grated Emmental cheese. Place the farmhouse bread on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and spread the onion and sausage mixture evenly over the mixture. Bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius until golden brown. Remove from the oven, garnish with herb sprigs, and serve immediately.
