Tomato sauce (family recipe)

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 4 sausages (Wiener)
  • 2 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 piece(s) ginger (almond-sized)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 500 g tomatoes, pureed or
  • Tomato(s), fresh, finely diced, then
  • 70 g tomato paste additionally
  • 500 g applesauce without cinnamon
  • 100 ml cream
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika powder, hot
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

fruity, savory with apple sauce, with or without sausage and ginger

Heat the olive oil in a pan and fry the finely diced onions until translucent. Quarter the Vienna sausages lengthwise and cut into small pieces. Add them to the onions and continue to fry lightly. Once everything is nicely browned, briefly heat the very finely chopped garlic and ginger. Add the passata and applesauce and season with sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika (mild or hot). Finally, stir in the cream and let it simmer for five minutes. Also suitable for vegetarians and vegans without the sausage and cream.
