Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g minced meat, mixed or as desired
- 1 large onion(s)
- 1 medium-sized garlic clove(s)
- 500 ml water
- ½ tube(s) tomato paste
- 5 tomatoes, diced
- salt and pepper
- basil
- oregano
- some vegetable oil
- possibly kidney beans
- possibly corn
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
as a sauce for pasta
Fry the minced meat in a little hot oil. Don’t cook it for too long, or it will dry out; the meat needs to stay nice and juicy. Meanwhile, peel and dice the onion. Peel the garlic clove and squeeze it over the onions. Finely chop the oregano and basil. Dice the tomatoes. Now, when the meat is almost ready, add the onions and garlic. Make some space in the middle of the pan so the ingredients can sauté a little. Then mix them with the minced meat and add the tomatoes straight away. Once the tomatoes have reduced in size, add water. Depending on how hungry you are, you can also dilute the meat sauce with more water. The main thing is to have enough tomato paste to thicken the sauce. Add the tomato paste now. Now add the spices: basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add as much as you like. This recipe can, of course, be varied, which I do regularly. The tomato paste can be completely replaced with tomatoes, the minced meat can also be lamb or turkey, and additional ingredients like red beans, corn, or similar can be added. If you’re not a fan of tomatoes at all, you can also mix the whole thing with gravy instead of tomatoes and tomato paste. It sounds weird, but it tastes delicious. Just give it a try; your imagination is the limit. Oh, and yes, it’s best served with pasta or rice.
