Non-alcoholic mulled wine syrup

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1 orange(s), untreated
  • 2 lemons, untreated
  • 5 dl grape juice
  • 300 g cane sugar
  • 1 tea bag, black
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick(s)
  • 2 carnations
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 1 slice(s) fresh ginger
  • 1 vanilla pod(s), cut lengthwise

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Finely grate the zest from the orange and one lemon. Then squeeze the juice from the orange and lemons. Combine the grape juice, sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, grated zest, black tea bags, and all the spices in a pan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, remove the pan from the heat and cover the syrup. Let it steep for 30 minutes. Pour/filter the syrup through a sieve and bring to a boil again. Then pour into hot, rinsed bottles and seal them immediately. In my opinion, this also makes a great Christmas gift.
