Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g wheat flour
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 5 g sugar
  • 10 g salt
  • 150 ml milk, room temperature
  • 150 ml water, lukewarm
  • 40 g butter, soft
  • Butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 4 hours 15 minutes

Place the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix. Add water, milk, and butter and knead everything into a smooth dough. Add a little lukewarm water if necessary and knead for about 10 minutes. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 2 hours. Remove the dough from the bowl, knead vigorously again, then transfer it to a buttered loaf pan. Cover and let it rise for another 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 220°C (top/bottom heat) and place a bowl filled with water inside. Bake the bread for 7 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 190°C (375°F). Bake for a further 40 minutes. Remove the bread from the oven and from the pan, then let it cool on a wire rack.
