Christmas cookies quick and easy!
To make these delicious clove buttons, mix the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, butter, eggs, and salt together in a bowl. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of ground cloves to the dough, depending on your taste. Don’t add too much, as the flavor only fully develops in the oven! Refrigerate the dough for an hour. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 0.5 cm and cut out circles using a round cookie cutter or a glass. Use a smaller cookie cutter or a smaller glass to make a round impression in the dough to resemble a button. Then make four holes in the center of the cookie and press a whole clove into each one. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool. You can leave the whole cloves in the holes for decoration, but it’s best to remove them before eating; they’re too flavorful! The button rim can be decorated with chocolate, I prefer white chocolate as it goes best with the clove flavor.
