Bread dumplings with pear sauce

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 300 g rolls, approx. 6-8 pieces
  • 10 g butter, hot
  • 250 ml milk, hot
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 can pear(s), 820 g
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp, leveled flour
  • 1 ½ tsp vinegar essence
  • 5 carnations
  • 1 ½ pinches of cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp, levelled sugar

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

For the bread dumplings, cut the bread rolls into cubes. Heat the milk and butter in a saucepan and pour evenly over the bread cubes. Let stand for about 10 minutes. Then add the eggs and salt and mix everything into a dough. With wet hands, form dumplings. Place the dumplings in boiling salted water and let stand over low heat for 20 minutes. For the pear sauce, melt the butter and lightly brown the flour in it. Deglaze with the pear juice and bring back to a boil. Season to taste with the cloves, cinnamon, sugar, and vinegar. Add the pears and let them heat through in the sauce. Serve the bread dumplings with the pear sauce.
