Plum dumplings with cinnamon sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g quark (low-fat quark)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 175 g semolina
  • 8 plums
  • 30 g almonds (flaked almonds)
  • 150 g sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon, ground
  • 20 g butter
  • 150 ml cherry or plum juice
  • n. B. Almond(s) (almond flakes), roasted
  • e.g. powdered sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Mix the low-fat quark, salt, flour, and egg. Gradually add the semolina. Stir until a smooth dough forms. Wash the plums, pat dry, pit, and fill with flaked almonds. With moistened hands, shape the semolina dough around the plums into dumplings. Let it simmer in boiling salted water for about 20 minutes. Caramelize the sugar until golden brown. Stir in the cinnamon and butter. Pour in the cherry or plum juice and stir until the caramel has dissolved. Drain the dumplings and arrange them on plates with the sauce. Serve sprinkled with toasted flaked almonds and powdered sugar.
