BBQ drumsticks

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 12 chicken legs
  • 12 slices of bacon
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic salt
  • 4 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 300 ml apple juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

A classic with chicken legs that is always well received.

Preheat the grill or smoker. Place a bowl filled with apple juice and 50/50 water under the grill where the drumsticks will go. Make a small cut in the skin on the outside of the drumsticks and then peel it off completely using a kitchen towel, working backwards from the leg. Place all the spices in a bowl and mix well. If you like, you can refrigerate them for 12 hours. However, just kneading them for a few minutes is also sufficient. Rub all the drumsticks well with the spice mixture. Finally, wrap a slice of bacon around the end of the drumsticks and place the sticks on the smoker at 130°C for 45-60 minutes. They are ready when the bacon begins to firm up. Tip: Always place the drumsticks with the bacon on top. During grilling, the fat from the bacon will run and give the sticks additional flavor.
