Hobbit-style cherry liqueur

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 800 g sour cherries
  • ½ lemon(s), untreated peel
  • 400 g rock sugar, brown
  • 1,400 ml vodka

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 74 days; Total time approx. 74 days 15 minutes

Wash the cherries and remove the stems. Wash the lemon in hot water and cut the peeled rind into strips. Place the cherries, lemon peel, and rock candy in a sufficiently large glass container with a tight-fitting lid. Fill with vodka and seal tightly. Let this mixture stand in a warm place (preferably on a windowsill) for about two months to infuse. Shake frequently to allow the sugar to dissolve. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or a cotton cloth, gently squeezing the cherries. Then pour into clean bottles and let it infuse for another two weeks.
