Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
It couldn’t be easier
Mix 2 tablespoons of water with about 1-2 teaspoons of powdered sugar. Then add as much coloring powder as you like. Pour the liquid into a bowl with the marshmallows and put it in the microwave. Heat for 30 seconds at about 600 watts. Then remove, check whether the marshmallows are still hard, and put it back in the microwave. After 3-4 batches, the marshmallows should be very soft. Then mix half of the powdered sugar with the marshmallows. Knead in the remaining powdered sugar; this will take a while. If you want the fondant to stay white, place the water and marshmallows directly in the microwave and proceed as described above. A big advantage of homemade fondant is that it is softer and therefore easier to shape. It is also cheaper. To make a cake topping, you need twice the amount specified in the recipe. I use coloring powder from Brauns-Heitmann without azo dyes.
