- 1 ½ kg apples
- 600 g applesauce
- 300 g flour
- 75 g brown sugar
- 75 g sugar, white
- 220 g butter, cold
- 80 g walnuts, chopped
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
for a baking tray measuring 38 x 25 cm with extra high frame
For the dough, mix the flour, butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla sugar into a dough and spread it out with your hands on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Press up an edge of about 5-6 cm. Now peel the apples, cut them into small pieces, and mix them with the applesauce in a bowl. Spread the mixture over the dough. Then bake in a preheated oven on the middle rack at 180°C (fan oven) for about 25 minutes. In the meantime, prepare the crumble topping. To do this, knead the flour, sugar, butter, chopped walnuts, and cinnamon with your hands until crumbly. After 25 minutes, briefly remove the cake from the oven, spread the crumble on top, and bake for a further 25 minutes at 180°C (fan oven). If you like, you can dust the cake with icing sugar before serving.
