Whole-grain apple waffles

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 80 g butter
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 m.-sized eggs
  • 200 g flour (wholemeal spelt)
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • 1 lemon(s), untreated, grated peel
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp rum
  • 3 m.-sized apples
  • Fat for the waffle iron

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Cream the butter and honey in a bowl until fluffy. Gradually add the remaining ingredients. Finally, peel and grate the apples, and fold them into the batter. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of batter into a greased waffle iron and bake in batches. Note: Leftover waffles can be frozen and reheated in the oven.
